New in Dodger blue, Torre has no choice but to be man of the day
Players win championships, but on the Dodgers’ first day of spring training, the new manager is The Man. Scott Miller says Joe Torre certainly didn’t ask for it to be that way; he simply couldn’t help it.
Cliff Floyd & Ben Zobrist Arrive
Great note from Lancaster:
Floyd rather endearingly showed up with his gear in a black trash bag–”That’s how we roll,” he declared.
“I’m not going to try to be Superman,” he said, before noting that Superman has a locker right next to his in the clubhouse. That would be Carl Crawford.
Cliff’s just the Big Red Dog I guess? Should be interesting to see how much advice Floyd can give Carl in terms of becoming a leader in the clubhouse and the best player on a winning team. I don’t really buy into veteran leadership, but Floyd can still play, so whatever else he brings is just gravy. Also, I didn’t make a post about this year, but DRB’s third anniversary was on the 8th.
